Hi guys! Since we’ve been having so much fun with all things Tenney lately, I thought that I would show you the picnic set that we made for her today! When we first saw Tenney’s picnic set, we thought it was so cute! We knew that we just had to have it. 🙂
The trouble with a lot of the recent AG sets for the dolls however, is that they tend to only set a place for one. Unless it is a larger set like the lasagna, or the waffle breakfast, apparently the dolls do their dining alone. 😦
Lea’s picnic set is a prime example of only having room for one doll, but we remedied that one right away with our own version. We decided that we had to do the same for Tenney.
Also, who goes on a picnic without a picnic basket? The takeaway tray just seemed odd to us, so we are having our picnic using the Our Generation picnic basket instead!
Tenney is here with her new friend Kit Kittredge! After playing together all morning, they decided to stop, and have some lunch. I can’t think of a better way to share food with a friend than with a fun picnic!
The girls had to have their picnic indoors today, because it was quite rainy outside, but Tenney and Kit think that an indoor picnic can be just as much fun when you spend it with the right person!
“What’s on the menu?” Kit asked.
“Well, we have grilled chicken, macaroni and cheese, and watermelon,” Tenney explained.
“I brought some potato salad. too,” Kit said, showing her friend.
“Oh good,” said Tenney. “I love potato salad. We also have some freshly squeezed lemonade.”
“This is a great picnic,” Kit looked around at all of the food. “We might have to invite some more friends.”
“I don’t know,” Tenney seemed nervous. “I haven’t really met any of the other girls in the dollhouse yet.”
“Don’t worry,” Kit reassured her. “You’ll like the rest of the girls. They can be a bit rambunctious sometimes, and we are definitely getting crowded in the doll room, but it’s still a lot of fun.”
“Do you guys like country music?” Tenney asked. “I love to play my guitar, and sometimes I even write my own songs.”
“I’m not really sure,” Kit shook her head. “I can’t say I’ve ever heard of it before.”
“Never heard of country music? How is that even possible?” Tenney stared at her new friend. Who were these people anyway, that they had never heard of country music? Tenney was worried that maybe they wouldn’t like her style at all.
“Well, we don’t really have much for music in the dollhouse,” Kit shrugged as she took a big bite of her watermelon. “We usually just listen to Maryellen’s jukebox, or the Our Generation radio, but those only play a few random choruses.”
That got Tenney to thinking.
“I know!” she sat up excitedly. “We can have a country music concert! I have a brand new wardrobe now, so I’ve got tons to wear, and I’ve been dying to perform some of the new songs that I’ve written!”
“That’s a great idea!” said Kit eagerly. “It will be like your major debut!”
Tenney couldn’t wait to tell the other dolls their idea. She also couldn’t wait to start practicing her songs. She and Kit hurried to finish their lunch.
Don’t worry, Tenney! We like your style! And we can’t wait to hear you perform live in concert! 🙂
The macaroni and the potato salad, as well as the menus, food trays, and other printables, are from the amazing crew over at AmericanGirlIdeas. They turned out so cute! ❤ 🙂
(For some reason our labels printed out purple instead of red. It’s possible that the red ink on my printer was low at the time, but that’s okay, we actually really like them that way!)
The chicken is made out of model magic from our Doll Supper series. The watermelon slices are tablecloth weights from the dollar store. The forks, picnic basket and picnic blanket are from Our Generation, and the lemonade is from the Sophia lemonade set.
I hope that you enjoyed having a picnic with us today!
