HARRY POTTER HONEYDUKES CART REVIEW

Hi guys! Just popping in for a fun review of the Harry Potter HoneyDukes playset by MyLifeAs. Of course, we absolutely adore Harry Potter, so this is right up our alley for our dolls. American Girl has put out some really fun Harry Potter sets as well, but if you are like me, the price point does matter.

Luckily, MyLifeAs sets are affordable and the details are just as cute. Let’s jump right into it, shall we?

Now, first off I picked this up brand new in box from Facebook Marketplace for $15 which is an even better deal, but in store it sells for $19.94 which is still a very fair and affordable price.

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the presentation of the packaging. It is immediately clear that time and effort was put in for the display of this piece.

The little cart is set up and all the candies and pastries are arranged in the packaging to show an adorable representation of how this cart can be used.

When unwrapped, I examined the box itself. I was pleasantly surprised that they even decorated the packaging behind the cart with Harry Potter whimsy.

The rest of the box is fun too. It continues the whimsical Harry Potter pattern throughout the top and the sides of the box.

Some backstory is included on the sides.

The back of the box has a cute photo of a doll in a candy store pushing the cart as well as a handy list of everything included in the set.

1 cart, 1 cake stand with lid, 3 pumpkin pasties, 2 Cauldron Cakes, 2 Sugar Quills, 2 Licorice Wands, 2 lollipops, 2 Chocolate Frogs in boxes with lids, 2 boxes of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, 1 jar with lid and 12 gumballs.

Here are some stock photos from Walmart’s listing.

Here’s my cart.

Okay now let’s take a look at the best part. The treats!

The first thing that I am sure everyone wants to see is the Chocolate Frogs and honestly, this set does not disappoint. It includes not one but TWO frogs with their plastic boxes. That means the dolls don’t have to share!

If you are like me, you know from experience purchasing doll sets that some come with only one of everything, including place settings as if the dolls want to share the one fork or eat alone. Anyway, I digress.

Adorable! And of course the frog is removable.

The set claims you can make the frog jump by pressing on its backside. I tried a few times, but the best I could manage was it sliding across the table.

Still, as a Harry Potter fan this is a home-run for me. The set could have basically only come with these two sweet froggos and I would have still bought it and loved it.

But there’s more! Let’s take a look at everyone’s next favourite, Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans. First and foremost, the boxes do not open. So little tiny plastic jellybeans won’t be spilling down your heat registers. Yay!

As an adult collector, I would have loved to be able to open these boxes, but this set is 5+ so I understand completely.

The other wonderful thing about this piece is that it is made of plastic. The label seems to be a sticker and is firmly attached. So the box will not be crushed or mangled with play unlike other cardboard type doll boxed food. And of course, there are TWO of them!

Cauldron Cakes are next. These are the typical run of the mill in plastic doll food. They are cute and a fun add on. The cauldron handles are molded in place. Again TWO included. 5 stars for simply acknowledging that dolls and kids have friends they want to share with.

The pumpkin pasties are also plastic molded food. There are THREE of these.

And they come with a cute cake stand to put them on.

Next, there are two Licorice Wands, two Sugar Quills and two different lollipops. The wands and lollipops are rubbery plastic and the quills are harder transparent plastic. The little tray with the holes for sticking the quills and other candy in can be retracted back into the cart if not in use. The candy pieces fit snuggly in the holes and they stay upright.

Last are the gumballs and lo and behold the lid comes off! There are twelve loose gumballs inside.

How cute!

Next, let’s take a look at the cart itself. I really love the colours because it reminds me of the Honeydukes store when we went to Harry Potter at Universal Studios.

The cart comes with the handle detached, but you can pop it on into the holes easily. Make sure it clicks into place. I struggled at first to find the holes to attach it to because they are located down along the vertical poles of the cart not under the cart top.

All in all, it is quite a sturdy piece and it fits all of the treats in the playset and then some, if you wanted to add more.

My daughter said they should have added more treats since it seems like there is a lot more room for some, but for the price I think MyLifeAs did an amazing job. For that I give it a 10/10. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of the MyLifeAs Harry Potter sets in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by for my review! It always means the world to me to spend my doll time with all of the awesome folks in the doll community.

If you would like to see more of our goings on and what we get up to, feel free to pop in and give us a follow over on Instagram @fim_studios or on Facebook. I always feel like I should post more often, but we can’t help the busyness of life.

The good news is the Little Miss is off and away at university, I know time flies so fast, so it’s just me and the pups and the dolls here now. I think creating for my dolls is a wonderful way to keep busy and stave off loneliness, so you will likely be seeing me more often these days.

I am also still renovating my new home, so that will keep me busy as well. You can be sure that me and my dolls and this blog aren’t going away anytime soon. This is my happy place and even when life gets busy, I will always come back to it.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed and as always I wish you a doll crafty kind of day. ☺️

  1. I love this set, and I actually found one in my local Walmart here in Vancouver BC which was only $20 Cdn! Earlier in this year! I snatched it up and I love it and those 2 frogs which are unable to jump. I have it set up on top of my bookcase for now, where I can see it every day. I love Harry Potter too, and I read all the books as they came out long ago, when our son was the very same age as Harry and his friends, as each of the books came out! I need to re-read them again.
