Hi guys! For this Thrifty Thursday, I thought we could do something a little different. I wanted to showcase the makeover I did on a piece that we found for the new bedroom that we are working on in the mega dollhouse project.

Here is what I found this week at the thrift store for a dollar. I had no idea what it was, but as soon as I saw it, it spoke to me. 🙂

Okay, does anyone have any earthly idea what this ghastly thing is? I have been wracking my brain about it, and I haven’t a clue!

Of course, I took it home anyway. LOL! 🙂

Seriously, what is this thing? What purpose could it possibly have?

That is the mystery of thrift shopping folks! You never know what you’re going to get. Literally.

I decided that it was a doll desk. After a few coats of paint, it was starting to come along. I cut a piece of board to fit on top. I just used wood glue to keep it in place.

Now as much as I like orange wooden desktops, (not at all) I decided that since this is going in the new dollhouse room, it had to match.

So, I added a pretty piece of contact paper on top.

Tada! Despite not knowing what the heck this was to begin with, it turned out super cute as a doll desk! At a dollar, I couldn’t possibly go wrong! I’m still curious, but no mind. It is going to be so cute in our doll’s new bedroom!

I love how sturdy it is! Just like an expensive piece of doll furniture! 🙂

This little chair was another thrifty find. I will probably paint it white to match.

We actually found two of these little chairs at the thrift shop on two separate occasions. 🙂

Update: Ohmygoodness! I found it! It’s a mail sorter for cards and letters and things! Here is a pic I found:

Now that I know what this thing was originally for, I must say, I like it as a doll desk better!
