Hi guys! Happy Thanksgiving! I know it has been a long time, but I can assure you that we are still here and we are still dolling it up!
Do I have any excuse for not posting in such a long time? Well yes, and also no.
Long story short, life is busy. Life is always busy, you say. Yes, yes it is. So it’s really no excuse at all. But despite all the chaos of my non doll related life, today we finally got a minute to get crafty. Sometimes all you get is a minute. In this season of my life, I tend to get less even than that. I am still waiting on life to slow down and settle. We will get there eventually. Fingers crossed. (the only reason I have a minute today is because we did our Thanksgiving a week early.)
Anyway, recently we acquired a very pretty Courtney Moore doll at a very affordable price. She is one of the visual dolls, (why does AG do this?) but I can look past that as the rest of her is in great shape.

Initially, I was not going to buy a Courtney doll. I felt like my Maryellen was doing a very good job of standing in for her.
However, as time went on, and I kept seeing all these adorable Courtney dolls, she kind of snuck in to my brain. It didn’t help that I had acquired quite a number of her clothing items, and accessories as well.

Remember, I was not a big fan of her line at first simply because it brought back too many not so fond memories of the clothing of the 80’s. But then I was gifted a couple of her items, and a couple more ended up in our doll closet, and then finally this new to us Courtney doll showed up at my door.
I have to admit, she is very cute.

Apart from Courtney’s outfits, we also acquired a few of her accessories, one of which was her Pac-Man lunchbox. The trouble is that it is empty. It is also missing its thermos. So today I decided I will try to replicate that thermos and eventually I am hoping to fill her lunchbox with DIY’s as well.
This little thermos actually turned out to be pretty easy to make. The main conundrum was what to make it out of? I had made doll thermoses before and you can find those HERE, but for this craft I wanted something a bit more authentic. Here is what I came up with.

I have several of these little glitter bottles in my stash. A couple of them were empty. I simply rinsed one out and removed the label. Turns out they are the perfect size for Courtney’s thermos.
Now, if you do not have these same glitter bottles, my suggestion is to just go to the local dollar store because they usually have plenty of little travel sized bottles.
The first thing you want to do once your bottle is clean is paint it yellow. I just used bright yellow craft paint by Apple Barrel. I am not using this thermos for anything except display. If you have spray paint that might work better. I just paint thin layers and let them dry for a long time in between.

Then seal it with Mod podge. You can also make an easy mod podge alternative using school glue and water.

While you wait for everything to seal and dry, you can make a label. I just sourced the image from Courtney’s thermos online. I resized it in my Word program to fit the bottle and printed it.

Then I cut it out and taped it onto the thermos.

So cute!

For now, we are just using doll food that we already have to fill up the rest of Courtney’s lunchbox, but I really want to make her cheese puffs.

Courtney thinks carrots are healthier anyway. I also need to make her a pair of jeans and maybe a jeans skirt.

We have a lot of her tops and her adorable Carebear pajamas. As soon as we got those, we had to find a doll sized Carebear, so we got some of the World’s Smallest ones. You can see them HERE.
Then they came out with her Strawberry Shortcake PJs. Too cute!! So now we want those! We also would love to have her caboodle. Although we did DIY her a caboodle as well as her boombox and her retro phone. And of course a true 80s girl has to have a pair of slouch socks.
This is starting to sound like that book, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. 😆 I figure that since we aren’t very interested in the new Girl of the Year, Summer, we can focus more on other doll things.
I hope you enjoyed our craft today. I hope to get better at posting, but you know how that goes. I am also hoping that next year things slow down a little bit. Until then, keep smiling and have a crafty kind of day!

This is great! I love how you re-purposed the glitter bottle! Also completely understand life getting in the way of dolly life.

Thank you! Yes we are in the middle of a lot of different life changes, so once all that gets squared away, things should slow down a bit. ❤️
