Hi guys! Today I want to speak to something that is rather important to me as I struggle with it as I am sure others do too.

I am not one of those crafty people.

What??!!!

There, I said it.

Okay, I know that a lot of you are thinking, but all you do is craft?! What load of malarkey is she on about now?

But it’s so true, I am not one of those crafty people, you know the ones with their nails perfectly manicured, their lines always straight and perfectly matched up, their freehand abilities off the charts.

To be honest, I can barely cut a straight line. Just ask my sister who once tried to recruit me to make wedding invitations with her. Oh dear. 😂

I am a real person. I do not have a production team, and to make matters worse, I am left handed, you guys. The world of crafting was not designed for folks like me. 😅

I burn myself on the hot glue gun every five seconds, I cut my fingers on everything, and I drop everything on the floor, every single day.

My lines are crooked, my freehand drawing and lettering, heck my handwriting in general, is especially atrocious. I actually never handwrite anything. Instead, I print everything in capital letters, because it is just easier for me.

My hair is not neat in its messy bun, in fact it probably has hot glue strings in it, and my nails, well you’ve seen my nails in photos. They are not manicured. They are actually kind of terrible. Sorry. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Add to it that we generally don’t have a lot of fancy supplies or equipment, and well, it is what it is. This is us.

But the reason that I bring all of this up is that I constantly have so many people tell me that they can’t do the things I do because they are not crafty.

This just stuns me, you guys!

I am here to tell you that hey! I am not crafty either! That is to say I am not a born natural at it. I have ideas, I love to craft, I have the ambition and the motivation. I am just not very good at it, or at least I am not a professional, far from it, which is why we are called Faking It Mostly.

That is not to say that we haven’t made some incredible things in the past. Amazing things. Things that I was like wow, I can’t believe that turned out so well!

But that is not because I am crafty! That is because I am determined. I will not give up even when my lines are crooked and my fingers are burning off, even when I want to toss the whole thing in the bin.

I feel this way about my book writing sometimes, too.

But then I go on Youtube, and I see all of these amazing crafty people with perfect lighting, and gorgeous nails.

Their ability to time lapse makes it even worse. You start to feel like your efforts are just slogging along in the ditch.

So I get it. It can be discouraging, and I am here to tell you that I am exactly like you! I get discouraged too!!

My crafting can be long and arduous, taking days sometimes, and a lot of it is mainly riding on a wish and a prayer, but I am here to tell you that if I can do this, believe me, with the right amount of determination, anyone can.

So, plug in your glue gun and dust off your crafting table!! You only fail if you don’t try!

We might make a mess, we might even need a miracle, but nine times out of ten we make magic happen! And when we don’t? 🤷🏻‍♀️ meh. Into the bin, and try again! 😊

I hope this motivates you today! I hope it gets your gears turning and your mind buzzing with the possibilities, because those possibilities are real!

All you have to do is keep smiling, keep trying, and keep dreaming.
