A LITTLE SURPRISE

Hi guys!! Are you ready for a surprise? Of course you are!

Introducing:

Wendy Chloe!!

But she is not ours! 🙂

My mom, chief knitter/crochet artist, received her very first doll this week! She was always struggling with measurements for the dolls whenever she was working on projects for them, so the team here at Faking It Mostly decided that it was time for Grandma to have a doll of her very own to sew, crochet, and knit for!

We found this little beauty on eBay for a fraction of the cost of an AG doll new! She was in such good shape that we just knew that we had to have her, and the bonus? She has straight black hair! Exactly like my mom! 🙂

It was the perfect match!

She’s so cute! 🙂

When she arrived, we cleaned her limbs, brushed her hair nice, and sewed up a brand new pink sundress with a matching hairband for her.

She came with the cute pink shoes.

Once she was ready to go, we secured her into a spare AG doll box that we had on hand.

Then we wrapped her up, good as new! ❤

Boy was my mom surprised! 🙂

Now the girls and their dolls can have a visit with Wendy Chloe any time that they go to Grandma’s house! 🙂 And Grandma doesn’t have to worry about getting the measurements wrong when she’s knitting for the dolls. 😉  ❤

(I made this little sundress using the OhSewKat! Sugar & Spice pattern from PixieFaire. I recommend the sleeveless pattern for any beginner seamstresses out there.)

I hope you enjoyed the surprise! 🙂

    1. Yes, we got her used from eBay. I looked her up, and she is a Just Like You #25. I definitely recommend the OhSewKat Sugar & Spice pattern! The sleeved version is a bit trickier, but the sleeveless dress would be a perfect project for you to do at your grandma’s house. 🙂

  1. What a wonderful, thoughtful gift for your mom!!!! When my granddaughters received their AG dolls, I taught myself to sew because I needed to make doll clothes for four. It would get expensive if I had to buy each outfit from AG. I was borrowing my granddaughters dolls to try on the clothes as I made them. Finally, I just bought myself a preloved Samantha.

    1. She was delighted to receive it! I think as a child she would have loved to have a doll, but back then there was no money for anything, never mind dolls. I believe that you are never too old to have a pretty doll. 🙂 It’s wonderful that you taught yourself to sew for your granddaughter’s dolls. AG is very expensive. I can’t bring myself to buy any of their doll clothing. Not when I can make it myself for next to nothing! 🙂
