DIY CAMP HANGOUT

Hi guys! Time just flies lately! I am so excited for this DIY. When the AG Camp Hangout came out in 2019 my first thought was to try to recreate it using our DIY Lea’s Rainforest Hut. Then Kira’s Comfy Platform Tent came out in 2021 and I wanted that one more. So we took apart the rainforest hut and recreated it into Kira’s tent.

You can find that post HERE.

Fast forward a few months, and lo and behold, we actually found Kira’s platform tent for $20 on the secondhand market. It came completely empty, a blank slate.

Pretty!!

Now I was going to just take all of the accessories from our DIY Kira tent flip and put them in the new tent. That way I could reinstall all the DIY rainforest house parts back into their original home.

However, I got to thinking that since it was already a blank canvas, I might as well use it to create something entirely new. I decided that it would be perfect as a camp hangout.

AG Camp Hangout

I set out immediately to gather up every doll camp accessory I could find. Here is what is included in the original.

Next, I made the blue cushions. I had found some blue fabric at our city’s annual $1 fabric sale that was perfect. I also made a blue canopy for the top of the tent.

To make the ombre orange camp pillows, I printed the image onto fabric. I taped fabric onto a sheet of paper and fed it through my printer.

Place the fabric right sides together and sew leaving an opening for turning and to stuff.

Trim and clip the corners.

Turn right side out. Use a chopstick to push out the corners.

Then stuff the pillows and sew up the opening.

Once the pillows were complete, I printed out a few of the posters and stickers to cut out and hang on the wall.

Then I set up the rest of the camp supplies. Here is how it turned out!

The grill.

The campfire.

Camp life.

I love it! And because I used the base of Kira’s tent, our dolls can actually stand in the hangout.

As you can see, the original camp hangout by AG is not tall enough for the dolls to stand up in.

Our dolls have lots of room to stand, sit and even roll out their sleeping bags to sleep.

Carly is wearing GOTY Kavi’s pajamas. So cute!

So if you have Kira’s platform tent, it can easily be transformed into a camp hangout or even a rainforest house. I just feel why buy so many of these large doll house type items when you can find multiple uses for the one you might already have.

I hope you enjoyed our blog post today! I hope it gave you lots of good inspiration for what to do with your own blank canvas doll houses. I am hoping to get more crafty with our dolls and post more often, but life does have a tendency to take over sometimes.

Be well! Keep smiling and have a crafty kind of day!
