MOUNTAINS AND MIRACLES

I PAINTED THIS FOR MY DAD IN HOSPITAL

Hello all! I just wanted to update everyone on my condition and about our life in general. I am still injured. I still can’t sit down which is why blogging from my phone has been such a lifesaver. I am in a lot less pain, and honestly most days I don’t even think about it anymore.

When I remember how it was compared to how I feel now, I am just so very grateful. God will make a way for me even when there seems to be no way. That has been my mantra through all of this. God knows what he’s doing. He has a plan. I know that seems easy for me to say now that there is a bit of light at the end of this very long dark tunnel I’ve been trapped in, but truly, it was the only thing that got me through some days. That God wouldn’t just abandon me. That there was a reason. All I had to do was have faith, and just keep going.

Am I out of the woods? No. One false move could land me right back in the ER. I still have to be careful not to overdo it. I still can’t sit down at all. That means no doll sewing at all, or does it?

Last night, I was thinking about it, missing my sewing, feeling sorry for myself, when suddenly I had an idea that was so simple I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before. It was so brilliant that I even jumped out of bed and ran to tell the Little Miss about it. She was less than enthused to be woken by her mother in the middle of the night, but you guys! This just might be the ultimate solution to my current no doll sewing situation!

Now I still can’t sit down which is the prime reason that I can’t sew right now, but what if I could stand up and sew? Heck, if I can paint, cook, craft and write books while standing, I don’t see why I can’t sew!

And oh how I miss my doll sewing! I haven’t been able to sew anything in over a year! I would try just about anything at this point. If I can blog from my phone, then anything is possible right? I believe in possibilities for 2021! And I believe that God is telling me that the worst of this is over, and that I can hope again. I will let you know the results!

Okay more updates, this one regarding my 78 year old dad who slipped and fell on the ice in 2019 and broke his neck and spine in several places. Doctors told us to say our goodbyes as it wasn’t expected that he would live. But he did. He nearly died so many times, so many complications, so many surgeries, and even a DNR, but he lived.

He was never supposed to breathe on his own again. He did. He would never eat solid foods again. He did. He would never sit up in bed again. He did. He would have to wear the enormous halo device on his head for the rest of his life to keep his head attached at the neck. It’s now been removed. He was never expected to ever sit in a wheelchair. He does. He would be a quadriplegic unable to move his arms and legs ever again. He can move them now. He can put his glasses on and off, feed himself, scroll Facebook, change channels on the remote, and lift his arm to wave at us on FaceTime. He has voice talk to text as well as a voice activated phone.
And you guys! LAST WEEK HE STARTED MOVING HIS LEGS!! Just simple stuff like extending his legs in the chair, but they are moving! And guess what else? He is starting to learn to push and maneuver his wheelchair using his feet!! Praise God!

I am amazed. The doctors and nurses are stunned. This is all God, you guys. This is so far beyond simple miracles. I can’t even begin to understand it, so I won’t even try. I will just leave it for God. Just know that we are so incredibly, and amazingly blessed. ❤️

I PAINTED THIS FOR A FRIEND DURING COVID

Other news. Let’s see. I’m getting ready to release my new book. It is the first in my new series called Aether Sky, and it will be of that same title. I am now working on the next book in the series. I haven’t decided how many books will be in this series. My last series was a trilogy, but I’m going to have to wait and see with this set. I am really excited though. 😊

Not much else has been happening for us lately. Our small city is still pretty locked down. The schools were finally able to open up again last week, but we homeschool anyway, so it didn’t really affect us.
This is our third year of homeschool, and we love it. I’m actually a former high school teacher for any who didn’t know, but homeschool has been a completely different challenge for me. The Little Miss is tested as high gifted, with a grade 13 comprehension level. That was back in grade five. It was one of the biggest reasons we started homeschooling in the first place. There are no gifted programs in place where we live.
Despite being a former teacher, I am definitely learning as I go with this. Gifted doesn’t mean easy by any means. It can be as much of an obstacle at times as it is a high ability. I just trust that we are doing the right thing.
So far everything has been better since we chose to homeschool, and when COVID hit, we were already at ease with our home education situation, so not much changed. We were lucky that way as I know that it hasn’t been easy for so many.

Well, I do believe in 2021. I hope for the best this year. I hope it is a year of healing, and life getting back to normal.

Here is a list of amazing things that have happened in 2021 so far:

My dad is alive and kicking, literally. 😊

I am phone blogging. (so amaze!)

I am healing, and I might even be able to sew (trying that this weekend).

My new book is coming out. (Excited!)

Last year, we got the cutest baby doggy ever named Teo, and now we are getting another one (technically not until next year, but we got the news this year).

The US election (even though we are Canadian, we are still happy).

Pixie Faire Freebie Friday is back. Woot!

Well time to sign off! Before I go, here’s a pic before and after of a painting I redid for my sister. The colours, although pretty, didn’t match her shabby chic decor, so she asked me to change the colour scheme.

AFTER

More muted and pretty!

Also, since I’ve been injured and I can’t go to the store, I hand painted all of my Christmas cards this year.

And painted some 2020 ornaments.

I think that sums up 2020 pretty well, don’t you?

Okay, time to sign off for real! Thank you so much to everyone who is or has been praying for me, or even just thought of me. It really means a lot, and it has really pulled me through this year knowing that you are all behind me.
Love you guys.
😊❤️

  1. Hang in there! Do you have a standing desk? Attorneys I worked with that had lower back issues couldn’t sit. So they had those standing desks. God is healing you and loves you. Apparently, your life has required you to “slow down” and I’m sure there is something that maybe God wants you do / explore during that time. Keep on doing what you’re doing! And feel free to swing by my blog and we can fellowship and encourage one another!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words! I absolutely agree. God is healing me. I was a lot less certain of that ten months ago, but I still had faith and now I am starting to see the light at the end of this. This has definitely been a life changing situation for me. I have had to change so many things, let go of so much and I have grown a lot this past year. I guess the worst had to happen for that change to occur. I also see a lot of change in the people around me who have had to be in the thick of it with me. Things will never be the same as they were but that’s okay. Life goes on as it does. I will definitely check out your blog! 🙂
