Hi guys! Spring has fully sprung! The birds are out, the bugs are out, and the sun is shining! This is my favourite time of year! šĀ
Now that I am finished with all of my super secret doll exchange projects, I am excited to start creating a Spring doll clothes line for the dolls. I have been collecting fabrics for this.
Back in March, we attended the annual fabric sale at the local church. I look forward to this sale every year. You can’t go wrong for $1/meter for fabric! Ā I was like a kid in a candy store! Here are some photos!
They organize all the fabric by colour and type. I was seriously like a madwoman in there.Ā
Ahem. šĀ
Anyway, here’s what I ended up bringing home.Ā
Happiness is having a couch full of fabrics. LOL! š ā¤
The doll patterns, and trim bags were 10 cents each. Now you see why I look forward to this sale every year. šĀ
To satiate my need for buying fabric in the meantime, I usually go to the thrift stores. Sometimes my local fabric store will have a sale too. Otherwise, it is more expensive to buy fabric to make something, than to just buy an item of clothing brand new.
Since I was specifically looking for spring fabrics though, I decided to go, and take a look. I am kind of obsessed with boutique fabric lately too, but that is impossible to find where I live. This is literally all that both of the fabric stores in my town had for nice Spring fabrics. Luckily, most of it was on sale.Pretty! š ā¤
Next, I went out thrifting. I can usually find some nice articles of clothing to upcycle into doll dresses. Here are a few swatches of my finds. šĀ
Most of it needs a good ironing after washing.
Well, now that I have all the fabrics, (probably more fabrics than I will ever need to be honest. LOL!) I can begin my Spring doll sewing! š Yay!
Happy Spring everybody!!Ā

What a cool sale!! Is all the fabric and such donated for it??
I can’t wait to see what you make out of all of this. If it didn’t cost an arm and a leg to ship to Canada, I’d send you some fabric as well.

Yes, all of the fabric is donated! This is a traveling fabric sale, and all of the proceeds go to the Grannies of Africa. The grannies are taking care of all of the children whose parents have died of AIDS. It’s so sad, but we can help! š ā¤
I've already started designing Spring dresses for my dolls! I'm excited because my sewing skills are getting so much better. Things are actually turning out rather than getting tossed in the bin. š I wish shipping from Canada wasn't so expensive. Then I might be able to set up shop on Etsy. Ah well, I'm having fun anyway. ā¤
