Hey guys! So we have a confession to make. Lately we’ve been collecting more and more of the Disney Animator dolls, and it appears that we are finally willing to admit that we are hopelessly addicted. (Yes we have four Ariel’s. No, we can’t stop buying them when we see them in the thrift stores. LOL.)
I don’t know what it is about these cute little dolls, but we just have to have them. When we see them in the thrift store which is all the time, we just have to bring them home, and fix them all up nice and pretty. We have to. We have no choice. This is what addiction looks like people. Sigh. LOL.
I’ve also been addicted to sewing clothes for them. Most of our Disney girls come to us without clothes or shoes, and their hair is often a frightening mess. 
When we see them in the thrift stores, the Little Miss always tells me that we can’t just leave them there all naked and afraid with their hair all messed up like that.
“It’s just not fair,” she will say to me. I secretly agree with her, while my grown up side employs reason.
“But we already have that doll,” I remind her, as though that even matters anymore.
“Mom, we can’t just leave her here,” she sighs, disappointed in me. There are no choices here. Duh. Then she gives me a determined look. “She’s scared. I can tell.”
So it comes to pass that we take them all home with us. We wash them, we fix them, we brush out their tangled hair. We love them. We make them shiny and new. Then I sew up all the pretty things for them.
“Don’t worry, Mom,” the Little Miss is reassuring as she adds yet another dress to the never-ending list that I need to sew. “We’re rescuing them.”
Yes, never fear, the plastic dollies are being rescued. We are pretty much real life heroes over here. Pretty much. 🙂 LOL!

But I am just as bad! I see all of these adorable little faces peeking up at me in the thrift stores, and I can’t resist them either!
I want to clean them all up. I want to give them all new names, and clothes and hairstyles. I want to mother up all of the little orphan dollies just as much as she does. LOL!
(My husband thinks we’ve gone mad. Maybe we have, but how does it go again? All the best people are. A little mad, I mean.)

So there you have it. We have finally come to terms with the fact that we are big time crushing on the Animators, and we can hide it no longer! Especially since our craft room is practically bursting at the seams with them. 🙂 (23 dolls, and counting. Gah!! 😛 )

Faking It Mostly 
LOL totally me with 18″ dolls XD it started when I was at a yard sale and saw hair sticking out of a plastic tub. “Oh my gosh! Could it be an American Girl Doll?” I think to myself as I dart to the tub and pull out an Our Generation doll. Now this girl is a hot mess, her hair is ratty, she has spots of paint on her vinyl, and the dress was too far to be saved. I look over at the girl running the yard sale and she’s like nine… “How could she do this to you!” I wonder sadly to myself, I saved up and bought my first AG doll when I was nine and couldn’t picture putting my doll out on my front lawn to sell at that age. So I bought her, fixed her up, and is now one of my favorite rescues 🙂 I love all your dollies! They have such sweet little faces! Keep being an awesome doll rescuer!

I’m this way with the 18″ dolls too! We don’t buy as many of them anymore though, because we have SO MANY!! I am constantly sewing doll clothing! I am pretty much addicted to dolls, and I think the same way that you do. How could someone treat their doll that way??? I don’t know what it is, I mean, they are only toys right? But they aren’t to me. I don’t even play with them, and I’m not collecting them, or anything. I don’t keep them pristine in their boxes to sell later. I just love having them to sew and craft for, and to take pictures of. Even as my daughter is beginning to grow out of them, I don’t think that I ever will. 🙂

Aw, that is soooo sweet! Occasionally I’ll see a doll at a garage or rummage sale who looks lost and hopeless and I feel she ‘calls’ out to me for help. Totally understand. We know the hearts of dolls and then that makes us more sensitive and empathetic to real people. Dolls are so good for us! We’re not crazy! Keep it up!

I always see the poor, broken dolls, and I just want to ‘adopt’ all of them! LOL! I’m just glad that I have so many like minded people who feel the same way that I do! 🙂 ❤

Yes, I am hopelessly addicted myself. They’re just too cute! Sadly I haven’t found Pocahontas, Tiana. Snow White, or Merida yet but I’m always on the look-out! Recently I found a Jasmine and a Mulan though, so I’m quite happy.

A Mulan is a great find! Just keep looking. I ended up purchasing a couple of the ones that I was missing used on eBay, but then lo and behold, I ended up finding them at a thrift store later on down the road anyway. I should have just waited! Oh well, now we are up to our eyeballs in these dolls, and we couldn’t be happier. LOL! 🙂
