Hi guys! So it’s the first week back to school and BAM, everybody is sick. 😦 Isn’t that how it always goes? Oh well. We will soldier on.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking lately that it’s high time to do some more doll sewing with my daughter. I also want to do more doll sewing in general, but it is so nice to be able to teach the Little Miss at the same time.
And so we’ve decided that our blog needs a new monthly Sew Dolly! feature. Each month, we will be featuring a brand new, handmade outfit creation for our dolls! The items will either be sewn by yours truly, or by the Little Miss herself! I have been trying to encourage the mini me lately in her sewing endeavours by finding fun and easy patterns that require minimal help. 🙂
First up, we have this pretty little dress that was a mother/daughter collaboration, although honestly the only things that I had to help her with was the collar, and the front closure. This was a pretty simple pattern that I picked up at PixieFaire. I really enjoy their patterns because they are relatively inexpensive, and their illustrated instructions are very easy to follow.
I love this pattern. It is such a cute little dress.
This little dress has a front velcro closure with faux buttons.
It sports an adorable white collar and a puffy sleeve.
The Little Miss did most of the sewing for this pattern all by herself. She laid it, and cut it, and did all the pressing as well. I was pretty impressed. I only had to help her with some of the trickier parts. 🙂 That’s my proud mama moment.
I absolutely love the fabric that she chose to use for this dress too. It reminds me of Kit’s best friend Ruthie.
We found this fabric at a thrift store in the fabric bin. I really love how the white collar and the white buttons stand out against the purple flowers.
So what do you think?
I hope you enjoyed! And I hope that you are looking forward to seeing more Sew Dolly! creations.

I love it! That turned out great, and I think the fabric is perfect. I’m a huge fan of Pixie Faire patterns, I love how most of them fit and the details. The instructions are far superior to the “big” pattern companies.

Absolutely! I love their patterns because they are so easy to follow. I also love that I can zoom in on the instructions or make the print as large as I want. I hate that about regular patterns. I can barely read a lot of the instructions because the print is so tiny and some of the pictures are difficult to understand!
