Hi all! I meant to post this earlier, but everything got away on me again. I finally got some free time, so I am going to post it here now.
A while ago, I did a doll hat craft and it turned out really cute. You can find that tutorial here.
But lately, my daughter has been requesting these mini banana cream pies.
I find them in the bakery section of our local Co-Op here in Canada. Not sure if other grocer’s carry them.

Anyway, over time we have accumulated so many of these cute little pie bowls.

I saved them because something kept nagging at me that they could be made into something for the dolls.
Then one day it hit me. Hats!
I set to work immediately. First, you must thoroughly wash the bowl.

You don’t want banana cream pie on your doll. Now this hat is black already so you don’t necessarily have to do much to it. Just glue on some ribbons and flowers and you’re done. You could also spray paint it, but I wanted a different look.

First, I traced the top of the hat onto some tan felt. You don’t have to use felt. You could use a pretty fabric too. The options are limitless.
Cut it out carefully. You want to keep the fabric intact.

Glue the felt round you cut out to the top of your hat.

Now use the hole you cut to cover the brim of your hat. Glue it down. Wrap a ribbon around the hat to hide the seam.

Now you can fold over the felt and glue it to the underside of the hat. I use sewing clips to hold the felt in place while I glue. This works wonders.

Trim the excess felt.

Now you can finish decorating your hat however you’d like. Add lace, ribbons, flowers, feathers, buttons, bows whatever you want on your hat.

And you’re done! So cute!!

These little hats are so adorable and so versatile too! You can make them any colour you want, decorate them with whatever you want, to match any outfit your doll wants to wear!

I hope you enjoyed this quick little craft and I hope that you are having a wonderful long weekend!

Sorry we haven’t been posting as much as we’d like. Life has been so busy and there are some big changes coming for us. We are hoping that with summer coming we will have a lot more time for our dolls too.
In other news, I am very close to completing the second book in my Aether Sky series as well, so stay tuned for that. It has been a huge undertaking, so I am very excited! If you are interested, you can check out Book One here.
Until next time, keep on crafting my friends!

ooooh I didn’t realise you’d got a few published books to your name! I already been a bit naughty on amazon & ebay this month, but I’ve popped the Everlasting Trilogy and Aether Sky onto my wishlist, so I’ll remember the titles!
