Christmas is on its way, and I have been busy, busy, busy!! But don’t worry! I have something up my sleeve that I have been working on diligently like a busy bee. I just can’t post about it until after Christmas as my daughter and her little friends enjoy peeking in on my blog once in a while, and I don’t want to ruin the surprise!

In the meantime, I have been doing some really excellent sewing projects lately. I had some time on my hands and wanted to sew up some clothes for a doll that I had purchased for my niece’s birthday.

So without further ado, here are some pics of all the little dolly things that I made in November.

The first two dresses are a pattern that I own.

The kitten dress pattern can be found here.

You can find the chef set pattern here. I added velcro to the ribbon so it doesn’t have to be tied. I find that it is much easier for smaller children to use with the velcro.

This adorable little doll dress pattern can be found here. I used $10 coordinating fabric bundles from Walmart to make these dresses.

I used my own pattern for the nightgown.

Free jammies pattern here. I just adjusted the pattern to make it close in the front instead.

More jammies. 🙂 A doll can’t have enough pyjamas. I own this pattern, but it is really just a simple pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt. I love the duck iron on. You can buy lots at Walmart.

I made the shirt and pants with a pattern I already had on hand. You can find the cute little hat pattern for free here

I made these three outfit sets using this ruffle skirt pattern and the autumn shrug pattern.

I just used cotton instead of knit fabric. I had to double the width of the ruffles on the skirt and fold them in half before sewing in order to prevent fraying. The end result is adorable. The tank top is the same pattern as the one in the ruffle skirt tutorial. Again, I just adjusted it for cotton.

Then I made some matching headbands for each outfit.

I also tucked in these two pieces. I repurposed both of them from the same child’s skirt.

 

Finally, I made this little tote bag, so the dolly can go shopping. 🙂

This set was a hit with my 5 year old niece. She is just getting into 18 inch dolls, and she received two for her birthday. One of them was from us to go with all the clothes I made for her.

My daughter had a blast teaching her how to dress her new dollies, and showing her all the little outfits. I loved all the time I got to spend at my sewing machine, and of course teaching my girl all about sewing is priceless too. She even tackled some hand sewing projects of her own, and the look on her face when her projects turned out pretty darn good was enough to make it all worthwhile.
