Hello everyone! Today we are taking a look at the adorable Josefina, and all of her cute foods and accessories! Josefina is one of my favourite historical dolls, so when I got her for my birthday this year, I just knew that we would be crafting up a storm for her. 

The first thing that I wanted our Josefina to have was her adobe oven. I found a relatively inexpensive one on eBay, but then I got to thinking that I could probably make one just as nice myself. Check out our adorable DIY Adobe Oven. 

Once our Josefina had an oven, she needed some bread to go with it. We got to work making some out of Model Magic air dry clay. We found the top two bread pieces at a thrift store, but we made the round buns with clay. They were pretty easy to make. Just roll out a ball the size that you want, and flatten the bottom. Then use a knife to make crosses on the top. I brushed our bread with yellow and orange and brown chalk pastels as well. 

Once Josefina had some bread to bake, she needed to have some chiles.

(I know this is beginning to sound like the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie stories, but my daughter was pretty much on a roll by this time, and she was adamant that Josie just had to have all of her accessories. I might have had a little something to do with it too. Maybe.) Here are the chiles. I love these. They turned out too cute for words.  To make these just roll a ball of air dry clay into a small sausage. Taper one end of the sausage to a soft point, and pinch a stem in the other end. Curl the stem down toward the top of the chile. Curve the tapered end of the chile a little, and leave it to dry. Once dry, we painted them with red and green paint. 🙂 

Okay, so once Josefina had some extra adorable chiles, she just had to have…

…some maize corn!Again, roll some air dry clay into a sausage and taper one end until you get the shape of a corn cob. I used a butter knife to make marks in the corn. Then I left them to dry. Once dry, I painted them deep yellow, maroon and black. I used a small paintbrush to make the multi coloured dots. I just daubed them on in a random pattern. 

I think that Josefina’s food turned out pretty cute! ❤ 

Next, it was time to go thrifting! I had collected a few items already, but I really wanted to see what else we could find for her.
First we found this little basket that we thought was perfect to use as Josefina’s chicken cage. We didn’t find any chickens, but the sweet birds inside are also thrift store finds.

Snug as a bug. ❤ 

Next, we found this adorable wolf pup. We don’t have a Kaya doll, but we thought that he made a perfect Tatlo. Josefina is thrilled to have him to take care of. 

We also found this little trivet with legs. I think that it is supposed to be a candle holder, but we found that it works really well with this little pot of maize corn. 🙂 

We got this little basket for 25 cents. It’s perfect for holding Josefina’s chile peppers. Did you know that they have a chile festival in New Mexico? Everything from chile roasting to chile eating contests, and more. Also, all chiles start out green, but they are strung up to dry, and as they dry, they change colour to red. 🙂

The little orange bowl was a thrifty find from a while back. The oranges were on a fruit garland. The cork topped bottles are actually salt and pepper shakers. The rest of the pottery was all thrifted too. It goes to show what you can find! 🙂 

I love the little green chameleon. I’m pretty sure that he’s Pascal from Rapunzel, but I think he fits right in here. 

There are always a lot of lizards in Mexico.<3

I also love the little vase that we found. We put a spray of white silk flowers in it. These pieces really remind me of Josefina’s Birthday Set. 

We found another little basket for Josefina’s bread. 🙂 

The rug is a placemat we found. I think it works well for all of Josie’s new accessories. 

I’m so tickled pink with her, and all of the fun things that we were able to make and find for her! 🙂
