Hi guys! How is your summer going? We’ve been enjoying the hot weather, sleeping late, and basically ignoring all of our responsibilities!! Yay! LOL! 😛 I mean, what is summer for anyway? 

Anyway, today we are here to show you a neat little DIY of Julie’s Snack Set. For those of you who don’t know, it was released in 2014 at a cost of $50 USD. Too cute, right? Despite being a bit on the lonely side of things as AG tends to put out food sets that are only suitable for one doll to play, we still really like this set. At least there are two plates right? Well, today we decided to make a set of our very own, and we’re here to show you how! 🙂 

Let’s start with the Jiffy Pop. 

You will need:

Aluminum foil, milk jug lid, popsicle stick, popcorn kernels, yellow and white paint. 

Tightly roll an aluminum foil ball. This will be the main body of your Jiffy Pop so measure it to size on your doll. Just add more aluminum until you like the size. 

Next take a layer of aluminum foil and wrap it around your ball curling the edges at the top. Cut off any excess foil, and roll the edges down toward the centre. Leave some room on top of your ball to put in the popcorn. 

Flatten the bottom of your Jiffy Pop ball on a hard surface. Here’s one that the Little Miss made for her Littlest Pet Shops. 🙂 

Hot glue your popcorn kernels in place on top. 

Now paint your kernels white. You can paint the popcorn kernels before you glue them on as well. I’m just not that organized. 🙂 

Once the white is dry, mix white and yellow paint to make a light yellow, and dab it on top of the kernels for butter. 

Use silver to paint your popsicle stick and your milk jug lid. Once dry cut your popsicle stick to size. Hot glue the Jiffy Pop you made into the milk jug lid. Hot glue your cut popsicle stick to the side for a handle. 

And you’re done!

Next, let’s make the celery!

You will need:

Bamboo, scissors, green paint, brown puffy paint

(We got our bamboo at the dollar store. I was using it in a flower arrangement, so I just broke a bit off to use. Please ask your parents before you break their flower arrangements. 🙂 )

Cut your piece of bamboo in half down the centre. Parental supervision required. I just started at the top and cut through the middle. It was surprisingly easy to cut the bamboo this way. 

Cut in pieces. Be careful as the bamboo tends to split easily which is why it is so easy to cut lengthwise. 

My bamboo was already green so I only had to paint the insides. Fill your celery with brown puffy paint for the peanut butter. I didn’t have any tan puffy paint, but that might be a better match. Mine looks a bit more like Nutella. Is that something to put on celery? LOL! Oh well.

And you’re done! The Little Miss made her celery out of small wooden dowels. 

Onto the candy corn pudding!

You will need:

Orange and yellow paint, white glue, white puffy paint, glitter or bead container, small plastic lid, bead, cotton ball.
Start by placing the cotton ball into the glitter container. Mix orange paint with glue and pour on top until the container is half full. Carefully stir the orange paint until it soaks the cotton ball. I just stuck a stir stick in there and pulled at the sides of the cotton ball to allow the paint to drip down. Do the same with the yellow paint on top. I didn’t use a cotton ball for the yellow. I just poured the glue/paint mixture carefully on top of the orange.

Allow to dry overnight. Hot glue the bead and the lid as a base on the bottom of the container. Then add the white puffy paint on top. And you’re done! 

Placemats are next. 🙂 

You will need:

Plastic cutting mats, round plate, scissors

First trace your plate in pencil onto your plastic cutting mat. I got these mats at the dollar store. (Please ask your parent’s permission before destroying their cutting mats. 🙂 ) Add the petals and the stem. I just did them freehand.

Once you get one cut out, trace it for a second one. Erase your pencil marks, and you’re done!  

Tip: Use your leftover cutting mats to make some cute little cutting mats for your dolls to enjoy. 🙂

The last thing to make was the iced tea. We decided on grape juice instead.

You will need:

Hotel shampoo bottle, clear glue, glass beads, lollipop stick, food colour, green paint, exacto knife, scissors, owl stickers

First rinse out the hotel shampoo bottle, and remove the label.

Cut the top off of the bottle using an exacto knife and scissors.

Fill with clear glue and the food colouring of your choice. Paint the lollipop stick green and stick it into the glue. Let dry a little before adding some glass beads on top for ice.

Use stickers to decorate.

And you’re done!

Here is the whole set together! We already had the monkey stuffy, and the cute retro phone. We had made the devilled eggs previously out of Model Magic in our Supper Post. 

Our poor monkey has no one to hug. 😦

Julie and Mr. Fabulous are busy planning a sleepover party. 

They’ve already made all the snacks.

Now they just need to know who to call. 

I know! says Julie. I’ll call Rebecca! She’s always up for a sleepover!

Mr. Fabulous thinks that’s a great idea. He loves Rebecca. 

But then Emily will feel left out. We’d better call her too!

Mr. Fabulous is very excited for the sleepover!

All that’s left to do is wait. 

Well, maybe we can eat a few snacks in the meantime. Come on, Mr. Fabulous! Try this popcorn! It’s very delicious!
