SAIGE DANIELLE COPELAND ~ A MAKEOVER

Hello everyone! I am very excited about today’s post! I have been wanting to make over our Saige for a long time now. I have especially wanted to work on her hair. The moment that we got Saige we were thrilled. She’s hard to come by, but at the price that we got her, we couldn’t be happier.

As soon as she arrived, Saige was a favourite to be sure. I couldn’t get her away from the girls to work on her for even a minute. Then time went on, until today, when I went downstairs, and saw her sitting in the dollhouse.

I picked her up, and as soon as I did, I realized how ruined her hair had become. It was literally a ratty, straw mess. The girls were truly loving her to death, that much was obvious.

I was a bit devastated to tell you the truth. Sigh. Over a doll, I know. It’s just that Saige was one of my favourites too. To see her in such a sad state was well, sad.

But I couldn’t stay sad for long. Instead, I got to work. The first thing I did was prep her for a good hair washing.

Oh my poor girl! What happened to you?

Saige’s hair is literally sticking straight down and out here because it is so stiff like straw. 😦

A nice shampoo and conditioner, as well as a bit of hair oil brightened things up a bit, but her hair was still quite frizzy. At this point, I took to YouTube to try to save her. I found an amazing video tutorial by AGSnapshots on how to straighten, and then curl AG hair that I thought just had to do the trick.

I had done some doll hair straightening with the iron before, but the straightener proved to work just as well, if not better. In fact, I don’t know why I never used it before. I set my straightener on its lowest setting. Then I straightened Saige’s hair piece by piece being sure that the hair was soaked through with water before using the straightener on it, otherwise the hair will just melt right off.

Bit by bit, we were getting somewhere. The frizziness seemed to be fading away at least.

Wow, her hair was starting to go back to gorgeous! It just wasn’t curly in the slightest. 😦

Just like the video, I wrapped small sections around a pencil, and pinned them into place with a bobby pin.

I can already see the luscious curls to be!! ❤

Now all I have to do is wait. The hair is still a bit damp, so I’ve decided to give it overnight just to really let her curls set in.

**Note: If you would like to fix your doll’s hair in this way, please be sure that you have your parent’s permission/supervision. Also, it is important to straighten the doll’s hair before you curl it. When straightening use a low setting, and DO NOT forget to spray the doll’s hair with water!

Be sure to check back here tomorrow for Saige’s makeover reveal!

❤ ❤ ❤

    1. It really worked well! The hair has to be straightened first though. Then wrapped right after. Our Saige’s curls are not nearly as tight as they were to start. Now she has pretty waves. 🙂
