Hello everyone! Okay, confession time.
We might be slightly addicted to Disney Animator dolls.
Probably.
Definitely.
Okay, we are fully addicted. Moving on. LOL! 😛
We came across these two beauties at the thrift shop the other day. They were $3 each.
Oh my gosh, I just adore this pic! LOL! 😛
Anyway, aren’t they a mess? Upon closer inspection, it can be found that in reality, these are both the exact same doll–the Disney Animators version of Aurora.
The Little Miss thought that I was nuts picking up these two. 🙂
I brought them home, and immediately set to work. My first order of business was to use a Magic Eraser to clean their vinyl.
They had quite a few scuff spots, and the one girl had green and red crayon flecks on her face and in her hair.
Once they were clean, what was immediately clear to me was that the girl on the right was in much better condition than the girl on the left. Her hair was in better shape, and she had come fully dressed besides her shoes. I decided to try to salvage her hair without straightening like I usually do. I spritzed it with some water and some detangling spray. Then I ran a brush through it before adding in some hair oil. Next, I tackled her bangs. I spritzed them very well, and combed them out. Then I stuck a hot roller in there. The roller was cold at the time.
I let the roller set while I worked on the second doll’s hair which was quite tangled and damaged.
Someone had done three micro braids in her hair too, so first I had to untangle those. Next, I gave her hair a good washing with shampoo and conditioner.
Why, hello there pretty face! ❤
I used detangling spray, a brush and a comb to section her hair bit by bit so I could iron it all straight. I made sure my iron was on a low setting, and I kept the hair wet by spraying water on it. Then I ran some hair oil through the whole thing.
After I was done, it was clear that the ends of her hair were so damaged that they weren’t going to bounce back. So I gave her a hair cut.
What a difference!! I took the roller out of the other doll’s hair too. Although they are the exact same doll, you can see the difference in hair length.
Her hair also retained all of its curls. It was okay. This way, the dolls look like different dolls. I dressed them both up, and here are my results!
Good as new! 🙂 ❤ This little sweetie also came with her pet owl friend.
I had to find a dress for this one. We are thinking that she could stand in as Cinderella, or maybe Alice in Wonderland. I made this dress for the AG dolls, so it doesn’t fit the animators very well. I had to use a safety pin in the back. I am going to have to make her a pretty dress. 🙂
Remember this? LOL!! 🙂
That’s better!!! You can click on the gallery below to see their photo shoots. 🙂
I just love rescuing dolls, and giving them new life. 🙂
I hope you enjoyed!!

Wow! They’re so cute! I don’t have any cute dolls in my house. All rowdy crazy boys here.

Our girls can get rowdy when they want to, but I hear you. My friend has 5 boys. She gave up on anything nice in her house a long time ago. 🙂

I love to rescue dolls as well… sometimes I wish I lived closer to a thrift shop… sometimes I am glad I don’t… I can’t imagine how many dolls we would have if we did!

LoL! We definitely have to limit ourselves for lack of space! Otherwise we would be up to our eyeballs in dolls! haha! 😛

Beautiful! I love these dolls too. Have to admit, I’m envious you found 2 Auroras, she’s one of the only ones I don’t have yet! Enjoy!

The dolls have turned into brand new. What a lucky find for you. No one would ever believe they were second hand. What a great job you did. Thanks for sharing.
