Hello everyone! Happy New Year!!

Thank you so much, Flo!! I received my first installment in the mail last week, and I can’t wait to dive in!

Much thanks also goes to Too Cute’s shop owner, Margie, for sponsoring the contest. I was truly thrilled to win! My little girl is already requesting that I make the dress and the coat on the cover, so we shall see what the new year holds. 🙂

Now onto this segment of Sew Dolly! I am so excited to share with you all of the sewing madness that I’ve been up to for Christmas! This year, I had three darling little girls and their dolls to sew for, so my sewing skills were definitely put to the test!

I started out wanting to make all of the patterns from the new book that I had purchased called Doll Fashion Studio. I thought that each girl could then have a whole new wardrobe for their dolly. For an in-depth review of this book, click on the picture below.

However, once I got right into the thick of it, I realized that the patterns in this book are best for whipping up a few little somethings special for the doll girl in your life, rather than assembly line, mass produced, mad amounts of Christmas goodness. lol!

That being said, I did end up making a few patterns from this book, and I would still like to try out more, maybe just not on such a crazy Christmas deadline. 🙂

Instead, I decided to use one of my tried and true dress patterns to whip up some really cute doll dresses for the girls. PATTERN

Okay, before we begin, I also have to give a quick shoutout to FarmCookies on Etsy for their amazing, super soft, bulk doll clothes velcro! 🙂 When making doll clothes, this is definitely the stuff to have on hand.

Now, without further adieu, onto the dresses!

I made some with sleeves for fall.

(I just make the necessary adjustments to add sleeves to this dress pattern. Then I either use binding or elastic for the arms.)

And others remained sleeveless for summer.

When choosing fabrics to make doll clothes, it is essential that you find fabrics with small design patterns or dense colours like the dress above. That way a fair amount of the design will display in your finished product.

Small stripe patterns or chevrons work nicely as well.

Add a little bow for a detailed finish.

These little bows are my favourite. 🙂 I got the bow pattern from the Pixie Faire School Dance dress pattern. You can permanently attach them to the dress, or choose to leave them separate to double as doll hair clips. 🙂

I didn’t forget the jammies! This nighty was made from the Doll Fashion Studio book mentioned above. Notice the tiny polka dot fabric print.

These jammies were made using the Pixie Faire Heartwarming Pajamas pattern. I love the fish! ❤

Another pattern from the Doll Fashion Studio book was a set of hat and mitts. Since it was so cold outside, I thought that the girl’s dolls would definitely need these. The kitty cat faces are so adorable! 🙂

On to the Christmas dress. Since it was so close to Christmas, I decided that the dolls had to have a Christmas dress, so I made this pretty blue velvet number with ruffled sleeves and silver taffeta. The pattern for this can also be found in the Doll Fashion Studio book.

At first I was stumped for what detail to add to this dress, but then I found a tutorial to make some shabby chic pearl flower centers from leftover beads.

I didn’t have exactly the same beads as the tutorial, but they still turned out gorgeous!! ❤

Jammies in a row!

Valentine heart pockets! This was another pattern from my book.

Finally, I made the girls some dolly stockings using a pattern from AmericanGirlIdeas. I stuffed the stockings with little Dollar store trinkets.

(My daughter had already made off with her stocking by the time that I took this picture. 😛 )

And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for! 🙂 LOL!

DOLLY MIX AND MATCH *

This mix and match includes a knitted shrug, a reversible tank top, a pinstriped ruffled skirt, and a pair of pinstriped slacks. The shrug and the skirt were patterns from my Doll Fashion Studio book.

The tank top is Pixie Faire’s Popsicle Top pattern.

I love that the tank top is reversible with a coordinating pattern. It’s 2 shirts in one! For the pants, I just used the fishy jammies pants pattern. I like the cut of them as slacks. 🙂

Whew! What a lot of sewing! What a lot of pictures! But it was definitely worth it. ❤
