DOLLARAMA FIND: POTS AND PANS

Hi guys! Have you been as busy for Christmas as we have? These days, I wish I could clone myself!! Then perhaps I would be able to get more done! 🙂

Anyhoo, we were at the Dollarama the other day when we came upon this little cook set.

I was immediately floored because usually the dollar store cooking sets strike out for 18 inch doll purposes. The pieces are usually way too big, but this set seems perfect to me!

What a great find!

Okay, so obviously it is hard to tell what’s all in there, so let’s get it out of the package!

Here is the complete set all laid out. There are three pots, three lids, one saucepan, a wok, a cooktop element, some utensils and two leaf shaped plates.

Let’s take a closer look at the pots. The two smaller lids fit the small pots and the larger lid fits the large pot, the wok, and the saucepan.

This set is made from chrome coloured plastic. It is definitely dollar store quality, so no marks there.

In fact, it is probably best for older children who would be more careful with the little pieces, but it does get full marks for cuteness.

My daughter fell in love with this little set. She immediately wanted to start cooking up some doll treats.

(mostly she just filled all of the little pots with water, and stirred them to her hearts content) 🙂

Here is the little cooktop element. It is perfect for our kitchen as we don’t have a stove. 🙂 It would also be a perfect little camp stove. The slider works too. It’s not high tech or anything, (more plastic) but it’s fun for doll play.

Cooking with Kit. 🙂 This would be perfect for making Christmas dinner!

These are the utensils that come with the set. They are a bit larger than I would have liked, but they still work for our dolls, except for the potato peeler on the end. That seems to be the most unreasonably sized utensil in the bunch since it is as large as the soup ladle. LOL! 🙂

Here are some close ups. Like I said, the quality really isn’t there, but for $1.25 for the set, you can’t go wrong really.

img_4919

The lids do fit nicely without much trouble.

(It was a bit of a struggle to take these pictures as the Little Miss kept stealing all of the pots away.). 🙂

img_4928

One thing I noticed was that one of the lids has a different handle. Lack of quality control I suppose, but it’s not a huge deal breaker in my opinion.

img_4923

I wish that there was a separate lid for the saucepan, but I do like that one of the lids does fit.

img_4926

The little leaf plates are not my favourite choice. We have decided that they would be better suited as fancy treat platters, rather than actual serving plates.

img_4924

All in all, I am fairly pleased with this set. The price can’t be beat for one, and secondly, the size is perfect for the dolls.

It’s a nice little set for photo props too, if you can get it away from the children long enough to take pictures that is! Also, even though the quality isn’t perfect, so far it has withstood a fair amount of reasonable play. It’s even waterproof. 🙂

img_4911

The utensils are a smudge too big, but that’s not a huge deal. I feel like perhaps some of them can be used as BBQ utensils. 🙂

img_4920

All around these are pretty fun. What do you think?

img_4921

I would have scrounged up some cute little doll food to put in them, but like I said, I had about a full nanosecond to take these pictures before my daughter scooped the whole dang thing, and took off to the bathroom sink to play. LOL! 🙂

Oh well, not to worry. I know that these little pots will come in handy in all of our future doll kitchen shenanigans.

I hope you enjoyed!

  1. Those are adorable! And I agree on the scale for most of it, they are spot on. I haven’t been to the Dollar Tree in ages, I think I may have to make a trip today!
