MAD ABOUT MINIS – MAKE A MINI DOLL BED

IMG_3632

Hi guys! I know, we’ve been gone for a week, but now we’re back!

Today, I want to show you all how to make a simple doll bed for your minis!

Here’s what you need:

The box your mini came in

(a box of similar size would work too)

A fluffy sock

Needle and thread

Hot glue

Fabric of your choice

Poly fill or cotton batting

Plastic headboard or cardboard

Large wooden beads (optional)

First, take the box that your mini doll came in, or any box of similar size.

Next, get your fluffy sock. You can usually find some of these at the dollar store.

IMG_3616

Put the sock on your box. Make sure it is on there good and tight.

IMG_3617

Cut off the excess. Then using a needle and thread, stitch up the open end of the sock.

Note: Please be sure to get adult permission before cutting your socks. 🙂

Now you have a mattress for your bed!

I had these small plastic pieces to use for my headboard, but cardboard will work just as well.

Lay some poly fill or cotton batting on top of your headboard. Then cover it with the fabric of your choice. I used felt. Using a hot glue gun, glue the fabric onto the cardboard pulling it tight around to the back. Cut another piece of cardboard to cover the back of your headboard.

Now you can hot glue your head board to your bed. Be sure to cover the edge of the sock that you stitched.

This next bit is optional. Hot glue large wooden beads to the bottom of your bed for legs.

IMG_3622

This will elevate your bed off of the ground, but it is not necessary.

Make some blankets for your bed using fabrics of your choice. I used flannel for the bedspread, and fleece for the throw blanket and pillow. I also used the rest of my fluffy sock to make a snowball pillow. 🙂

Now comes the fun part. 🙂 Put your doll bed in your dolly’s room!

I am proud to present the first bedroom in our Mad About Mini’s Dollhouse! 🙂

IMG_3627

I used scrapbook paper for the wallpaper and leftover carpet for the floor. I cut some images out of our doll catalogues to make pictures to hang on the walls. I also used some pretty scrapbook embellishments to add more bling.

IMG_3626

All of the doll furniture and accessories were past purchases. I apologize for the bad lighting.

Here is Miss Emily Bennett checking out the new doll space.

The bed comes to about the doll’s waist. It is quite high, which is why it isn’t really necessary  to elevate it.

IMG_3630

Emily is wearing Barbie clothes. We have found that some of Barbie/Bratz clothing fit the mini’s well enough.

IMG_3636

The rooms are 1ft x 1ft x 1ft. This is a good size for the minis. We are repurposing a 3ft x 3ft cubed shelving unit. There are nine rooms altogether.

IMG_3631

All of the princess figurines are from Kinder surprise eggs.

IMG_3628

My favourite part of decorating the dollhouse was mixing and matching scrapbook paper for the walls. The options are endless! I was also thrilled to be able to use up some of my paper supply.

IMG_3635

I will probably add some lighting to this house too.

IMG_3629

Okay Emily, it’s time for bed!

IMG_3637

(It’s probably my bedtime too, but for some reason, I’ve been spending all my nights on a massive Doctor Who marathon. LOL) 🙂

IMG_3638

Goodnight everybody!

I hope you enjoyed visiting the mini dollhouse today!

  1. So cute! The bed reminds me a lot of the one that came in the AG Mini’s they sold years ago.

Which doctor were you watching? I need to get back into it. My favorite is 9, loved his sass. My favorite episodes are the ones where they introduce Jack Harkness.

    1. Gotta love Jack! 🙂 He’s awesome. I really love the tenth doctor. He’s my favourite. But nine is pretty amazing too. I started on nine and I am now just finishing the seasons of the tenth doctor. I’ve watched them all once before, but I always get in these moods where I have to watch things over again. Especially if I am disappointed with regular tv. Then I just go watch a favourite instead. I think I’ve watched the new Sherlock series over twenty times. It never gets old. 🙂
