Hi guys! Just a quick crafty post to end the weekend before it’s back to work tomorrow!

We have been looking for the perfect fireplace for our dolls for quite some time. We even went without a doll fireplace for Christmas this year! Boo hoo! Nowhere to hang our dolly stockings! How sad! 😉

So when we came across this tutorial over at LivingADoll’sLife, we were so excited! I set out to find the perfect 8×10 frame right away! Luckily our nearby thrift shop is home to many picture frames in all shapes and sizes! It didn’t take long for us to find the perfect one!

We immediately took it home, where we proceeded to get so excited about making the thing that we forgot to take a before picture of it. Dang! LOL!

First find a box that is about the same proportions or a bit bigger than the picture frame. (8X10)

Take apart the picture frame. Remove the glass and the back. Then cut the bottom piece off of the frame, and set it aside for later. I just used a hand saw to cut the bottom of the frame off. It worked well even though our frame was made of plastic.

Paint the front of the box black. Our box had a little plastic window on the front. I decided I would keep it. I will probably put a little LED candle in there.

Hot glue the frame to the front of the box.

See all the pretty detailing on the frame? I really like it!

To add the mantle, take a piece of MDF or plywood and measure to size to fit on top. If you don’t have wood you could use thick cardboard.

I was lucky because my sister just finished building a house, and she gave me a bunch of random leftover pieces of crown moulding and other stuff. Sisters. ❤ ❤

Hot glue the mantle in place leaving some overhang.

Now, you can leave it at that, or if you like the look, take the bottom piece of the picture frame that you set aside earlier, and hot glue it to the top of the mantle.

I just really liked how it made it look fancier.

That’s all there is to it! Now you can rock your very own doll fireplace! Christmas here we come!! Woot!

You can bet your boots that we will be using this in a lot of future photoshoots too, and it’s a great addition to our new dollhouse project!

The fireplace is about 9 inches tall and 11 inches wide counting the half inch of mantle overhang on either side. I think it is a good size for the dolls.

I put a few thrift store trinkets on top.

I cut the photo in the frame out of a magazine. LOL It’s a bit too modern for this scene, but I still like it. The colours are so subtle. 🙂

The little jewelry box is so sweet. It has a hinged lid. It’s one of my faves. ❤

They all crawled up on the table, and got into the Japanese doll food buffet!!

Some of them were having so much fun with their bad selves that they didn’t even notice me watching. (Some were having a pretty wild hair day as well. LOL!!) Oops! I’ve been spotted!

Those naughty, naughty dollies! Look at Saige trying to buy me off with that steam bun! Yeah, don’t think for one second that I’m falling for that one!

Oh, who am I kidding! I really love steam buns!
